OILCAN-the musical is in motion across Scotland!
The gears are turning, and change is coming...
STAGE 2 Begins Summer 2026
At its core, OILCAN – the musical is a platform for creative expression, where participants contribute ideas, lyrics, and scripts that may shape the final production.
During STAGE 1, The OILCAN team toured across Scotland looking for creative, talented musicians and writers to join us.
From March - August 2025, the team ran our FEEDER workshops with:
Hillhead Library at WEST FEST in Glasgow
DRC Generations and Finns Place in Glasgow
Heron & Willow Bookshop in Jedburgh
An Lanntair on Lewis
Portobello Library in Edinburgh
Dundee Rep in Dundee
WayWORD Festival in Aberdeen
LEITH Theatre in Leith
with a final online session open to all

Everywhere we went, we met inspirational souls crying out to have their voices heard.
The FEEDER workshops opened with an introduction to Playwriting with trained dramaturg Scott Kames. We explored 'writing ourselves for the stage' and including our own thoughts and feelings as a stimulus for plot and conflict.
Then, we explored songwriting with talented composer Spencer Mason. The session began with hilarious warmups and sily tongue twisters and ended with everyone having written and performed a song of their own penmanship.
Our inspirational originator closed the session. Wrapping up what we had learned and inviting the attendees to...
1. Apply to join our CREATIVE TEAMS...
And/or
2. Contribute to our ARCHIVE CHEST...
